iRip

iPodRip is an application for Mac computers that is compatible with any model of iPod (including iPod Touch and iPhone). It allows you to extract the songs and playlists from these devices to your hard drive.

There are two different recovery modes: one is automatic, and will transfer all of the files in the device; the other is manual and asks you to select just those files that you want to copy.

iPodRip transports all of your songs and metadata to iTunes. Just be sure that you push Command (Apple) Alt when you connect your iPod so that iTunes doesn't automatically synchronize its library with the device, since that could cause you to lose the songs on the device.
